OFFICERS

Ariel Biggs

Ariel Biggs has a passion for people and for healthcare. She has been in the healthcare industry for 10 years and is into all things revenue cycle and technology. Ariel currently is the Vice President of Sales for Omega Healthcare. Education is important to her, as she has earned a B.A. from Lambuth University and an M.A. from Austin Peay State University.

Eric Summers

Eric has been involved with HFMA since 2007. He started relationship with HFMA with the Wisconsin Chapter where he volunteered for several roles including chapter Certification chair for 4 years. He later joined the South Carolina chapter during the Jude Crowell era and have been working with the chapter since. Eric also has several years of revenue cycle and contact center experience. Starting with American Express, where he held the title of President of Diversity for the Northern Region Operational Center (NROC), a 4000-seat call-center. As National Financial Services Director for U.S Cellular, he managed two customer service sites with 450 FTE where he implemented internal/external customer experience policies rooted in his diversity training.

Samantha Evans

Samantha Evans, MBA 

Treasurer

I currently serve as the Director of Revenue Cycle for hospital services as AnMed in Anderson, SC.  My scope includes Patient Access, PFS, Revenue Integrity, and our Q&A Training team. I received my BBA with a concentration in Healthcare Management and my MBA from Anderson University and am currently pursuing my MHA at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill (Go Heels!)  I teach as an Adjunct Professor at Anderson University, where I teach Personal and Business Financial Management.  In my free time, I love to spend time with my husband and two daughters, workout in the home gym, work on my golf game, and watch Tar Heel sports.

DeAnn Griffin

DeAnn Griffin is a healthcare professional with over 25 years of industry experience in sales and client services in the hospital and physician markets. She currently serves as a Client Service Manager for Medical Data Systems. Her broad industry experience includes business development, sales, digital patient intake, billing and coding, denial prevention and management, collections, client services, electronic health records, practice management solutions, and data analytics. She is passionate about delivering high-quality solutions and services to help clients navigate the ever-changing healthcare landscape.

DeAnn pursued a degree in Business Administration from Francis Marion University. In her spare time, she enjoys being on the water with friends and family, Clemson tailgates, and spoiling her Golden Doodles.

Taylor Searfoss

Taylor currently serves as the Vice President of Business Development for Ni2 Health. His focus on ensuring sales strategy alignment with overarching business goals has resulted in considerable increases in productivity, company revenues, client satisfaction, and employee engagement. Taylor brings a critical eye to redefining company sales management processes, with an emphasis on cultivating partnerships between the companies and organizations he works closely with.

Taylor has a broad healthcare background with deep experience spanning administration, sales, leadership, and marketing. His wide-ranging knowledge, especially in sales and management positions, has allowed him to become a key asset within growing organizations. Taylor began his healthcare career in revenue cycle services for mid-size hospitals, and subsequently leveraged his provider operations experience to move to the vendor side of revenue cycle.

Taylor holds his CHFP certification through the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) where he has been a member for 6 years. He has a Master of Science degree in Public Health Administration from Meharry Medical College, located in Nashville, Tennessee and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Middle Tennessee State University. Taylor also continues to extend his industry contributions, holding leadership & board positions across multiple professional organizations and their state chapters.

Taylor is married to wife Jessie and they are proud parents to 3 little boys (*send help 😊). Taylor holds a longtime passion for training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan where he travels to multiple games every year with his family.

Dan Schlabach

Dan Schlabach is an experienced Revenue Cycle professional with 5+ years experience working in the information technology and services industry. Dan played an integral role on the founding team for Vispa and in his role as the Product Director he serves as the liaison between Vispa’s development team, operations team and most important, the clients. Dan brings his extensive knowledge of the revenue cycle and commitment to providing exceptional customer service to every project he touches. Dan pursued a Bachelor of Science focused in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is an active member in South Carolina’s HFMA chapter.

Robert Taylor

Robert Taylor

Robert Taylor, DHA, MBA, is a transformational leader in healthcare with over 20 years of experience in revenue cycle, patient access, and technology-enabled services. Currently serving as Vice President of Growth at Abax Health, Robert helps health systems solve some of their most pressing challenges in patient engagement, referral management, and financial performance. He is known for driving strategic growth, forming high-value partnerships, and delivering measurable outcomes in complex healthcare environments.

Robert holds a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration (DHA) and an MBA, equipping him with a unique blend of operational expertise and business acumen. His career has spanned leadership roles across the healthcare ecosystem, where he has consistently championed innovation, compliance, and client success.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Robert is a devoted family man. He is married to Dr. Dyisha Taylor, an accomplished leader in education, and together they are raising two sons, Charles and Dylan. His values—faith, service, and achievement—are reflected in every area of his life.

Whether advancing health system growth or mentoring future leaders, Robert Taylor brings clarity, vision, and heart to everything he does.

Meagan Bailey

Meagan Bailey is a healthcare professional with over 10 years of operations experience. She currently serves as the Director of Operations for both the Emergency Department and Urgent Care network for Lexington Medical Center. Meagan brings knowledge of project management, revenue cycle, patient access and data analytics to her role. She is passionate about ensuring high quality patient care is delivered with the most effective, safe, and efficient processes. Meagan pursued a Bachelor of Science degree focused in Management/Entrepreneurship from the University of South Carolina and then went on to obtain her master’s in business administration from USC, as well. Meagan is married to her husband; Daniel and they have two sweet Berne doodles: FinLee and Louis. In her spare time, Meagan loves to travel, go to concerts, and bring along the pups! Meagan also serves as the Membership Chair of South Carolina’s HFMA chapter.

Lynn Waters

Lynn is the Executive Director, Single Billing Office for Baptist Health, Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Florida.  She has in excess of 25 years experience in professional and hospital revenue cycle leadership in academic and non for profit settings with a focus on automation, process improvement, performance measurement and employee engagement.  Lynn received her BS in Accounting from Clemson University and is a certified public accountant.  She has been a member of the South Carolina Chapter of HFMA since 1996.  Lynn lives in Greenville SC and enjoys time with her family traveling and sitting on the beach.

Bill Calamas resides in Lexington, SC with his wife, Allison.  Professionally, He has spent the last 20 years in revenue cycle.  Currently, he leads a national sales team with FinThrive, a leader in the RCM industry.   

Personally, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, exercising, and vacationing at the beach and the mountains!  Living in beautiful SC allows him to take advantage of life outside of the day to day work responsibilities.

Vanessa is a 27-year healthcare leadership veteran whose healthcare experience as a Patient Access Director and Business Office Director has spanned six states and four healthcare giants including Med Cath, Triad, CHS, HCA, St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System of Savannah, GA, and currently MedStar Health of Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC. 

Vanessa is the President of Empowered Not Entitled Consulting, A Certified Woman-owned LLC dedicated to empowering people, especially young women to reach their potential through professional coaching, workshops, and seminars. 

Vanessa is most passionate about leadership development, employee development, process improvement, personal growth, and helping others reach their maximum potential. To that end, Vanessa is involved with and volunteers with community agencies devoted to rehabilitation and personal empowerment, such as Goodwill, March of Dimes, United Way, The Savannah Black Chamber of Commerce, and the Salvation Army.  

Vanessa is the mother of one, the grandmother of one, and a majority of one!

Clint Stewart

Clint Stewart is the Chief Financial Officer for Self Regional Healthcare, headquartered in Greenwood, South Carolina.  Prior to joining Self Regional Healthcare in October of 2024, Mr. Stewart held a variety of operational finance roles within two North Carolina health systems, Cone Health and Mission Health systems.  In addition to healthcare, Mr. Stewart has experience in audit and assurance services in a public accounting firm and held financial roles within the controllers’ office of two manufacturing organizations.  Mr. Stewart is a certified public accountant in North Carolina, a certified treasury professional, and a 2025 graduate of the Healthcare Financial Management Association Fellows Program. He earned a Master of Health Administration from Pfeiffer University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Appalachian State University. Mr. Stewart is an active member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and volunteers as a Score business mentor.

Barney Osborne, FHFMA 

Barney Osborne has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare Finance. Barney is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and is a Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA), certified as a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) in Advanced Technical Study in Accounting and Finance.

Today, Barney is putting his many years of hospital financial and administrative experience as a hospital chief financial officer to work for all South Carolina hospitals as vice president of finance and reimbursement for the South Carolina Hospital Association. He is responsible for education, evaluating state and federal regulatory and procedural changes and evaluating the related risks at the hospital state and federal level, and advocating for the good of all South Carolina hospitals. Barney is a long-time member of the South Carolina Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and is currently a member of the chapter’s Board of Directors. He also serves on a number of other boards and taskforces at the state and federal levels.

Lawrence Laddaga 

Founder of Laddaga- Garrett, P.A., Attorneys and Counselors at Law in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1983, the firm limits its practice to Health Law and denial management and appeals. The firm represents a variety of health care providers in litigation, mediation and arbitration against insurance and health plans; Medicare/Medicaid issues; Compliance matters; revenue cycle consulting; managed care contracting; HIPAA; discharge planning issues; licensing and regulatory issues. He also serves as an adjunct faculty member at the College of Charleston’s School of Professional Studies where he teaches Health Law and Regulation. Past chair of the Health Law Section of the S.C. Bar, he is also a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, an advanced member of the Healthcare Financial Managers Association (HFMA) and holds their Fellow Designation with Certifications in Patient Accounts and Managed Care. He is a past President of the South Carolina Chapter of HFMA, a past Regional Executive and served two terms on the HFMA National Principles and Practices Board, and Chapter Advancement Team. Mr. Laddaga enjoys Argentine Tango, Yoga, Zumba, Running, and Barre.
