President’s Welcome

Aloha Kakou!
You may be familiar with the traditional Hawaiian greeting “aloha” for hello or goodbye, but as our amazing immediate past president Brenda Parinas practiced and instilled within the Hawaii chapter this past year “aloha” is much more than a greeting.
In the Hawaiian culture, “kakou” means “all of us or “we”, so when you say aloha kakou you are expressing a sense of unity, filled with the aloha spirit that conveys love, compassion and connectedness to others.
Continuing on the successful journey that Brenda started two years ago, we will stay on the same path to practice aloha (meaning: kindness, unity, agreeableness, humility and patience) daily and extend a warm welcome and embrace everyone as part of the same community, our HFMA Hawaii Chapter Ohana.
I am honored to be a part of a dynamic group of talented, kind, respectful and passionate professionals that understand the importance of collaboration and embrace the meaning of aloha kakou. The Hawaii Chapter Board of Directors will stand together and commit to work towards providing our members the tools and opportunities to grow and thrive in this complex world of healthcare finance. Whether it is to provide quality education here in the islands, share the knowledge and experience of being part of a nationwide organization, provide updates on current events affecting healthcare, network with friends/colleagues to share and “talk” stories, trade best practices tips, mentor, give referrals, and provide opportunities to give back to our communities, your board of directors are here for you.
We encourage to you to engage and stand together with us on this journey! Take the step to participate in webinars, call or email to provide feedback, share your experiences while attending a networking event, meet someone who does the same type of work you do, attend one or all of the conferences, give back to your community when we have a community service event; your involvement is what gives us the sense of unity and strength to make our chapter successful. I Kū Mau Mau!
A big MAHALO to our chapter sponsors, your support provides our members the opportunities for professional development and meaningful connections.
It’s going to be a spectacular year!
