Information Blocking Disincentives for Certain Health Care Providers Final Rule Summary

On June 26, 2024, CMS and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology of the Department of Health and Human Services placed on public display in the Federal Register a final rule that establishes disincentives for certain Medicare-enrolled health care providers and suppliers participating in the Medicare Promoting Interoperability Programs or in the Medicare Shared Savings Program that are found to have committed information blocking. Publication of the final rule in the Federal Register was scheduled for July 1, 2024, and the effective date of the rule is 30 days after that publication date.
