President’s Welcome

Dear Members,
It is an honor to serve as your President. I want to extend my gratitude to Paula Littleton for her great leadership last year and to all past presidents who have shaped our chapter. Your dedication has built the strong foundation we stand on today.
HFMA’s mission guides us—to lead the financial management of healthcare and drive meaningful change. Each of you has already invested in synergy and people, strengthening our future with every contribution. My goal is to continue this journey and make a lasting impact, while following in our National Chair Kiran Batheja’s theme, “Lead Now.”
Reflecting on my HFMA journey, I recall a past president who encouraged me with the simple words: “You just have to say yes.” That moment pushed me forward, reminding me that leadership is about recognizing potential, encouraging participation and supporting growth. I’ve learned that in leadership the act of investing in people is a cornerstone of success. As I step into this role, I look forward to witnessing the continued growth of our volunteers—breaking norms, challenging standards, and forging new paths. While success requires perseverance, it also requires embracing mistakes and celebrating wins together. Try to always remember these words. “The road to success is always under construction.” — Arnold Palmer
Thank you to everyone who contributes to this chapter and HFMA as a whole. Let’s continue to build on our foundation, unite, huddle up, jump high, and strengthen our teams with the time we are given. As an influential Missourian once said… “It is amazing how much you can get accomplished if you don’t care who gets credit.” — Harry S. Truman
As I worked on this year’s theme for Greater Heartland, it was easy to build on our National Chair’s theme. My Presidents theme for 2025/2026 will be Investing in Synergy and People. Greater Heartland will continue to empower connections and strengthen futures. Thank you for your trust and the opportunity to serve.
With gratitude,
Matt Ellis
