President’s Welcome
Dear Members,
It is with great enthusiasm and genuine gratitude that I welcome you all as I begin this second time serving as President of the HFMA Western Pennsylvania Chapter. Working with this vibrant and dedicated group has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I am truly excited to jump back into the President role.
Reflecting on the past years, I am reminded of the remarkable friendships and professional relationships that have blossomed within our chapter. As we move forward in the 2025-26 Chapter year, I am energized by the continued opportunities to network, learn, and grow with each of you. Our chapter will remain focused on providing top-tier educational programs, creating meaningful networking opportunities, and fostering an environment where everyone feels connected. Whether you are a long-standing member or new to our chapter, your presence and participation are what make our chapter strong.
I would like to thank the members of the Board of Directors and Officers for serving with me this year…there are many returning and some new faces to the leadership group.
Thanks to Lauren Stroup from Independence Health, Daniel Bucci from WVU Medicine, and Rich Nagy from AHN for being our provider voting board members. Thanks to Paul Horton (HBK), Matt Polak (RSM) for being our partner/non-provider voting board members. I’m excited to work with a fantastic group of officers this year, including Patrick McKenna (Solventum) as President Elect, Amy Devinney (UPMC) as Treasurer, Nicholas Smerk (Quadax) as Secretary, and Ryan Thompson (UPMC) Past President!

Finally, I would like to thank our senior leadership at Centri Business Consulting for their continued support of my involvement with HFMA and for believing in the value of HFMA as a key component of my strategic plan for the Centri Healthcare Practice.
We are still planning the Education Events for this year, but we will return with our signature events including the Annual Spring Symposium (March 12, 2026 at the Rivers Casino), the Annual Women’s Event (June 2026 at Narcisi Winery), and the Medicare Update (Fall 2025). We are always looking for ideas and suggestions on how we can best serve our audience. Please feel free to reach out to me or any of our Board of Directors with feedback. Additionally, we are always looking for volunteers to help with our event planning and will offer free admissions to those who are willing to assist at our on-site events!
