HFMA Summary: Interim Final Rule – Additional Policy and Regulatory Revisions in Response to the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency

This document summarizes key provisions included in the interim final rule released on October 28, 2020, by CMS, the Department of Health and Human Services, Internal Revenue Service, Department of the Treasury, Employee Benefits Security Administration and Department of Labor to ensure the coverage of COVID-19 vaccines. The rule also addresses a number of ancillary issues – including price transparency for COVID-19 tests, Medicare payment for new COVID-19 treatments, Medicaid enrollment flexibility during the pandemic, and extension of performance year 5 in the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacements program.
